Havanna Highlights

Havana is such a beautiful city with great culture. I have only spent a long day here on trip excursion from Varadero so still have plenty more to discover. It was a great trip and allowed me to see a good amount of Havannas quirky features and to explore the highlights of the city. We squeezed in so much that I was exhausted by the end of the trip but it was completely worth it and I would do it all over again! I would definitely recommend visiting for an over night stay if you are going to a near by destination in Cuba (i.e. Varadero) to allow for extra time exploring.

Here are a few highlights from my long day trip to inspire you and give an idea of what there is to do and see here:

Old Havana

the City Centre is down town and is filled with beautiful ruins and restorations. It is a fun place to wander around and take in the sights

Grand Teatro de la Habana

Home to the Cuban National Ballet

Old Square (Plaza Vieja)

Plaza de la Catederal

A beautiful church hidden between streets of old Havana

Plaza de la Revolucion

Revolution square is the iconic spot for history of politics

Walls of Canal de Entrada

located on Avenue Carlos at the mouth of the harbour over looking La Cabaña 18th-century fortress complex featuring museums, cultural events and a nightly canon-firing ceremony

During the evening we relaxed and freshened up at Hotel Presidente and had a buffet dinner

View of Havana from hotel room

Tropicana
This outstanding Cabaret show is a perfect way to spent a night in Havana. The music, dancing and performers are bound to get you on your feet in in the Cuban spirit!
