Byron Bay Mini-Break Guide

Sitting central along the east coast is this cool little town on the northern boarder of New South Wales that all backpackers say is a must-do whilst travelling around Australia. Just approximately a 2 hour drive from Brissy, it's the perfect location to explore on a mini-break adventure.

Day 1

Head to Wategos Bay for a BBQ lunch on the beach (watch out for the Turkeys pinching your food!). Afterwards you can take a stroll up to the Byron lighthouse to burn off those hotdogs.

Hire a board from Bayside surf shop ($20 for 2hrs - take the leaflet for 10% off) and catch some perfect waves at Clarke's Bay then wander up to Fishermans Lookout to watch the sunset behind the surfers.

Stroll around the Town to check out the small shops and little trinkets then head to a bar for a drink to end the night.

Day 2

Wake up early to set off on a short road trip to Nightcap National park. After a 90min approx. Journey you will arrive ready to explore Minyon falls (Don't forget to bring your water and some snacks for energy). Check out the spectacular view of the falls from the summit with a 100m drop to the bottom.

Start your trek through the forest down to the base of the falls; choose from the harder 4.5km trail starting at the falls summit (approx 3-4hrs return) or head to Minyons Grass for the shorter trail (approx 1-1.5hrs return). Once you make it to the base have a splash about in the natural pools and climb over the rocks to get the best view at closest point of the falls.

After the morning adventures, set off to the cool and quirky hippy town of Nimbin. Grab lunch at Armonica.

Head back to Byron
